Cell Surface Proteomics

Cell Surface Proteomics

Cell surface proteins are proteins that are embedded in or span the layer of cell membranes of more complex organisms. These proteins are integral to the way in which a cell interacts with the environment around it, including other cells. A typical proteomics experiment (such as protein expression profiling) can be broken down into the following categories:

  1. The separation and isolation of proteins from a cell line, tissue, or organism;
  2. The acquisition of protein structural information for the purposes of protein identification.
